Basic EditionA predator jumping on his back is a horse's worst nightmare. Do humans look like predators to a horse? Do they have big claws and long fangs? Well, no. But maybe horses don't analyze the issue that deeply. As far as they know any animal (humans are animals after all) that acts like a predator is a predator. In this Greene image the human prepares to mount the horse's back. The horse objects. The human insists. Conflict ensues.
Eventually the horse grows tired of objecting and allows the pesky human to sit on him. Lo and behold, it's not so bad. Maybe we could even make good partners, the horse decides, especially if he gives me a bucket of oats now and then. - PEO
